Livestock slaughtering and meat production quarterly trend movements for December 2018:
Cattle slaughter increased 19,700 head (or 1.0%) compared with the September quarter and increased by 197,100 head (or 10.8%) year on year.
Calf slaughtered increased 10,600 head (or 8.8%) when compared to the September quarter and increased 25,900 head (or 24.7%) year on year.
Sheep slaughter increased by 106,000 head (or 4.2%) compared with the September quarter and increased by 656,800 head or (33.0%) year on year.
Lamb slaughter decreased 204,100 head (or 3.6%) compared with the September quarter and decreased by 321,000 head (or 5.6%) year on year.
Pig slaughter increased by 720 head (or 0.1%) compared with the September quarter and increased by 17,400 head (or 1.3%) year on year.
The number of chickens slaughtered increased by 1.6% to 166.6 million this quarter and increased 5.2% year on year
Chicken meat production increased by 8,000 tonnes (or 2.6%) compared with the September quarter and increased by 13,400 tonnes (or 4.5%) year on year.
Brokers and dealers receivals of wool decreased by 7,400 tonnes (or 8.6%) compared with the September quarter and decreased by 17,600 tonnes (or 18.3%) year on year.
